Contemplatives
Who are the Visitation Sisters?
We are contemplative nuns founded by St Francis de Sales and St Jane de Chantal “to give to God daughters of prayer.” As contemplatives we live in the heart of the Church and like our Blessed Mother who accompanied the early Church in the Upper Room, we lift the Church and the World to the Heart of Christ through our prayer and sacrifice.

First Federation
“The Federation is a structure of communion among monasteries of the same Institute erected by the Holy See . . . ” (Cor Orans #86).
Federations serve to strengthen the bond of love among the monasteries by providing mutual aid and ensuring fidelilty to the charism of the Visitation. There are approximately 17 federations of Visitation nuns in the world with two in the United States. Six monasteries belong to the First Federation in the United States.
